The Squeaky Wheel..............

I have always heard that the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Over the years I’ve come to realize how insidious such a simple and seemingly benign saying is. Case in point: coastal Mississippi was virtually wiped off the map by hurricane Katrina. Yet you’d never know to what extent it was devastated due to the city of New Orleans.

New Orleans elected officials at best are a peculiar collection of individuals. Here lately they have become a giant hemorrhoid on the ass of America, an itchy and inflamed pain in the ass that refuses to respond to treatment, no matter what you say or do. Never have so much back biting and blaming- shifting been followed by so many demands. Mayor Nagin announced that he would be laying-off half the cities employees and almost immediately the howling started. “The Federal government should pay their salaries”, was one complaint.

When are people going to understand that the Federal Government doesn’t produce a dayum thing, it collect monies through taxes and redistributes them.
What really bothers me about the suggestion is what the hell is unemployment insurance for? All across America local and city governments are laying of workers for different reasons. In a lot of cases local governments realize that they can’t continue to raise taxes and are left with one solution—reduce employees. These out of work employees collect unemployment benefits until they find another job.

New Orleans needs to be mindful of another saying,” beggars can’t be choosy”. Let the people of coastal Mississippi get some of the attention—please.

Later’

Oh, I’m still pissed about President Bush’s choice to replace Sandra day O’connor , really pissed
