It's all Good ...Or is it?.......................

Moral relativism-Moral relativism is the position that moral or ethical propositions do not reflect absolute or universal truths but instead are relative to social, cultural, historical, or personal references, and that there is no single standard by which to assess an ethical propositions truth.

In street terms—“It’s all good.”

This is the ideological foundation of the modern Liberal agenda. This refusal to deal with absolutes has created some interesting paradoxes. One prime example is the issue of death- I watch my liberal brothers and sisters advocate the killing of unborn innocence and then immediately turn around and admonish anyone that believes in the death penalty for convicted murderers. Make no mistake, liberals aren't the only ones practicing moral relitivism.

I love absolutes, I need absolutes. I have never been comfortable dealing in the vast wastelands of moral gray areas. As a matter of fact, I refuse to. When confronted with a moral or ethical issue, I squint my minds eye and look at the issue in black and white, good or bad, right and wrong. Had the executives at Enron approached their responsibilities in this manner there would have never been an Enron scandal.

So it came as no surprise while reading AP releases, that activists in Los Angeles were demanding Paramount pictures remove billboards for Curtis"50 Cent" Jackson up coming movie "Get rich or Die tryin' ". It appears that these billboards depict" fity-cent" holding a microphone in one hand and a gun in the other. To top it off, one of the billboards is located right next to a pre-school.

It is my humble opinion that the last thing we need is another movie about a drug dealer rising up out of crime through hip-hop, but hey, it's a capitalistic country, and if they can sell it to a market, more power to them. Hell, it might just turn out to be a pretty good movie, but this billboard campaign is a major fuck up. I am pretty sure the executives at Paramount wouldn't want a billboard featuring “Fity-cent” holding a microphone in one hand and a gun in the other near their children's pre-school.

The absence of absolutes makes this possible. See in the eyes of the Paramount’s marketing team, such a billboard in their neighborhood is wrong, but not so in some neighborhoods. You know, I really hate this type of thinking. It is the root of many of our social problems here in America. I am damned tired of politicians and activists arguing in favor of certain behavior in certain areas that they would not tolerate in their area. At best it’s hypocritical, at it’s worse it’s devastating to the community that they supposedly are helping.

As far as “Fity-cent” is concerned. I have no beef with him, he has been consistent since he popped up on the radar screen. He has never claimed to be anything he isn’t, and as a parent my job is easy when the wolves are dressed like wolves.

Take Care
