Spying....................

In a previous post I wrote about viewing all things and issues in black or white. It’s a concept that time and time again has proven to be very effective in my personal life and well as business pursuits. I hate dealing in gray areas. I refuse to deal in gray areas. After making a comment on Peace on That’s blog http://peaceonthat.blogspot.com/, and doing my own research on the issue, hell , the Media muddies up the issue so badly you can’t trust a dayum thing they print, I have this to say. This current issue concerning President Bush spying on American citizens is gray as a motherfucka’, and disconcerting as one for several reasons:
  1. We are a Nation founded on the rule of law, not the wishes of the masses like so many Liberals seem to think.

  2. We have been down this road before in our history, the violation of the rights of Japanese citizens during WWII, is one example.

  3. An American President, the NSA, the Justice Department, the Inspector General, about 12 Senators, all decided spying on American citizens without a warrant was…. All Good.

  4. Here’s the real rub, what President Bush did might just be technically legal.
Okay, here is the Bold as Love solution to this whole affair:
  1. If President Bush, the NSA, the Justice Department, The Inspector General, 12 Senators, were within the law deciding to spy on American citizens without obtaining warrants- We need to close the loophole on this shit- immediately

  1. If these actions were not within the law, start impeachment proceedings for President Bush, clean house at the Justice Department, Strip the Inspector General and the 12 Senators of their jobs- ban them from seeking public office ever again. Lock up the Senator or Senators that leaked the actions to the press for a minimum of 20 years in Federal ass-pounding prison-without parole.
Yeah, Bush is my President of choice, but he can only be President for eight years at the most, I’ll be damned if I want this kind of power available to a President- who knows, it could be Hilliary- oh, hell naw.

Tookie Dies.................................................

I had a totally different post prepared in the event Tookie was executed, but after listening to a few talk shows this morning--I decided  not to post it. Yeah, it was mean-spirited, with a sick twist of humor, but that never stopped me before, I just feel enough has been said by enough people. I’ll say this though; to the families that lost loved ones at the hands of Tookie, I hope you have some sort of closure now and move on with your lives. To Tookie’s family and loved ones-  I hope you find peace. To Tookie,  My God have mercy on your soul.

So Long Richard....................

The Most influential comedian of the last 40 years, possibly of modern times passed away. His name was Richard Pryor, and you know his work.

There is a lot one can say about this man, but first and foremost, he made us laugh. From the good ole' boy to the upscale urbanite, and all points in between- he made us all laugh. This man took his personal demons and addictions, everyday insight, wrapped them in comedy, boldly held them up to the light, just to make people laugh-and we laughed.

We laughed so hard and long we could not see how much hurt Richard had inside, we laughed so hard that we did not realize our funnyman was doing more drugs than five rock groups of the sixties combined.

Then one day we gasped. We gasped when Richard’s demons caught up with him in a self-inflicted inferno that threatened to rob us of his genius, a genius that we were willing to stand in line an pay good money to witness.

Then we cried. We cried when the outlook for Richard’s survival was slim, when it seemed as though his genius was gone from our lives, no more Mudbone, no more insight into this crazy thing called life.

Then, unexpectantly, we laughed once more. Richard was back, as if defying death itself, Richard came back. Striding across a stage during a live concert, Richard once again laid it all out there, held it up to the light, made us damned near bust a gut laughing so hard. Chastising us like children for the Richard Pryor on fire jokes some of us had made, drawing us into his near death experience, making us feel the desperation and pain of that fiery night, yes, by that time even the most dense among us knew there was pain involved with the laughter- he made us feel it, and once again, we laughed.

It would be Richard’s last great show, the last time he would walked onto a stage alone, hold a audience in both hands and wring the laughter out of it, but it wouldn’t be the last time Richard made us feel something, or laugh for that matter.

Years later we saw Richard Pryor, battling MS, cracking jokes about a disease that we didn't understand, but knowing it would ultimately take his life. Once again Richard put it out there, made us laugh. It was an uneasy laugh, a laugh that was aware of his mortality, a laugh that knew what he had given us, and what we were loosing. Yet it was a laugh.

MS did take Richard’s life, this past weekend, and most of us are relieved that his suffering is over and pray that he has peace. I think Richard is having the last laugh- the funny men and funny women you see performing today- they all learned their craft imitating Richard, or imitating those influenced by Richard, there is a little of Richard in all of them, And it makes us laugh. It makes us laugh, long and hard- like Richard did. Thank you Richard Pryor, thank you for the laughter.

Under Pressure.................

CDC: Older Baby Boomers Plagued by High Blood Pressure and Obesity

Half of Americans aged 55-64 have high blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, according to a new annual report on health in the United States issued today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC).
The report concludes that 40 precent of people in that age bracket are obese.
The report features an in-depth look at the 55-64 age group, which includes the oldest of the baby boomers. In 2011, the oldest of the boomers will be eligible for Medicare, and by 2014, the ranks of Americans ages 55-64 will swell to 40 million, up from 29 million in 2004.

When I read this article I was fuming- Just Got Dayum, not only will the older baby Boomers be the last generation that will truly be able to receive social security, half of them are out of shape and sickly- Do you see the prescription drug nightmare that I see coming?

Look folks, I have caught a lot of flack saying high blood pressure and obesity are lifestyle choice diseases, I include HIV contracted here in America in that category also. What bothers me about this article is there are companion articles whining about blacks having these problems in disproportionate numbers- Its racists medical practices that are to blame the activists claim. What’s up these days, everybody’s a freakin’ activist, neighborhood activists, community activists, environmental activist, homosexual activists-ect…. ect….. ect….. Anyway, I am very disappointed with the older baby boomers, and the so called activists that make excuses for them. How many times have you known or heard of a person that has high blood pressure or obesity issues and will not change his or hers diet, won’t exercise, won’t limit their alcohol intake, you know, doing all the shit they are not supposed to do with their condition. I have heard every excuse in the book for this behavior. Guess what, it’s never the person that is neglecting their health that has any responsibility.

Here in the South, we have become a bunch of lazy, inactive people, so much so it’s pathetic. I play on a men’s and women’s softball team in the spring and fall, do you know how difficult it is to get some sista’s to play softball- can’t mess that hair up sweating. Most of the men on the team range in age from 30 -47, but we have to recruit younger women in their mid to late twenties to have enough women to qualify for the league. It seems black women in their 30’s and 40’s are very reluctant to sweat. A quick visit to the nearby park and you will see some very overweight women walking on the walking trails, God bless them, but never have I seen an over weight man, its not like they don’t exist. For you brothers visiting from out of town- know this, here in Georgia, if a woman claims she is thick, a lot of times it’s just a nice way of saying she needs to drop 40 pounds.

I am 43 years old. I could stand to drop 10-15 pounds, but I am very conscious of my health. I can still do and enjoy the things I did when I was 23, and my health, thank God, is the same. Oh, it’s harder with every passing year to make these claims, and I know the older I get the more I’m going to have to do to make these claims- but I’ll do what I need to do for this reason; My father suffers from high blood pressure and gout, it is one of the most frustrating things I have ever done watching him break all the rules concerning his diet and exercise. He is one of the boomers that the CDC is talking about and it doesn’t make sense for him to be this way with the resources he has access to, but he is. Yeah, it’s frustrating knowing that my 96 year old Grandfather doesn’t take the meds my Father takes on a daily basis. My grandfather takes vitamins and a placebo his doctor prescribes because he swears something is wrong with him-lol- I’m gonna be like my Grandfather if I have anything to do with it.

Let’s back up and look at this problem. The older baby boomers according to the CDC are jacked up, the kids are jacked up, and I see every day those in between are jacked up. I realize people come in all shape and sizes. I really do not find a bony woman attractive, I like some meat on a woman’s bones. But there is a big difference in having meat on ones bones and being unhealthy- people get out there and get some exercise, have some fun in the process and enjoy your older years. Medication free.

Congressional Black Caucus to Oppose Alito..........

Congressional Black Caucus to Oppose Alito
This is what the CBC had to say concerning their opposition to the Nomination of Judge Alito:
"The members of the CBC are concerned about Judge Alito's opinions, many in dissent, in race cases where his decisions have disproportionately affected African-Americans," said Rep. Mel Watt, D- N.C., the caucus chairman.
"We are troubled by what appears to be a very conservative judicial philosophy that seems greatly at odds with much of 20th century constitutional jurisprudence," Watt said.

I believe everyone has to do what they think is right. If you are committed to a cause, hey, more power to you, but I can’t stand hypocrisy. The Democrats, and the CBC, seem to believe whenever there is a vacancy on the Supreme Court while a Democrat President is in office they have the right to put forth any nominee they see fit. This belief has led to some seriously liberal thinking Judges, so much so that we have today what has become to be known as “Judicial Activism.” With a Republican President, and Republican controlled House and Senate, the Democrats and the CBC all of a sudden believe no party, especially the Republican party, has the right to put forth a nominee that represents solely their own political ideals.

I have a strong dislike for hypocrites and hypocritical thinking. I especially hate the way the Media gives the Democrats a pass on this kind of thinking. The Media is well aware of the fact that during Democrat Presidential years the Democrats have never had any problems nominating and getting confirmed their Liberal judges. The Media is also aware that the Republicans do not receive the same treatment, by the Democrats or the media.

I believe there was a time when a black congressional caucus was necessary, these days I’m not sure. The CBC is an organization that is totally composed of black Democrats, - I checked, it was founded in 1969 to address the legislative needs of blacks and other minorities. I believe the Democratic Party addresses those needs just fine these days, so much so in my opinion they hurt the ones they intend to help. The CBC calls itself the “Conscience of Congress”, I wish they would display some conscience concerning fair play in nominating and conforming judges. If you have any thoughts concerning the existence of the CBC, please feel free to air them out. Who knows, you might convince me to change my position.

Global Warming................

Global warming, yeah, had another argument/discussion about global warming with someone yesterday. I believe there is global warming, but I don’t believe man is at fault. I believe the earth goes through cooling and warming cycles, how else did the earth emerge from the many ice ages that it has experienced. Whenever discussing global warming with people that believe mankind is solely responsible for global warming be prepared for mother of all rants.

You will almost always hear this- “There is a consensus among scientists that global warming exists and man is the cause.” First of all, not all scientists agree with that statement. Second, let’s look at the word consensus- Webster defines consensus as: group solidarity in sentiment and belief, general agreement. Well that sounds all fine and dandy. The problem is, good science is not based on group hugging agreements, good science is based upon facts. I like Margaret Thatcher’s thoughts on consensus. Margaret said,” consensus is the negation of leadership.” Yeah, Margaret had a set, metaphorically speaking.

So, we were supposed to wreck hell out of our economy observing the Kyoto accord, all because of a freakin’ consensus, Bill Clinton thought so. Good thing Congress didn’t. I was thinking how so much of our lives these days is being influenced by this group type of thinking/reasoning. That’s how you get concepts like- Animals are people in fur coats, or Guns kill people. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so serious.

Upgrades................................

Found this funny item while surfing. Let’s start this week off with a laugh.

Dear Tech Support: Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activity. Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Hunting and Fishing 7.5, and Racing 3.6 I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications. I'm thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall doesn't work on Wife 1.0. Please help! Thanks, A Troubled User.

REPLY: Dear Troubled User: This is a very common problem that men complain about. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING!!! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 7.0. It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings-Alimony-Child Support. I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the background application "Yes Dear" to alleviate software augmentation. The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 and Do Bills 4.2. However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program Nag Nag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0 ! WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system. Best of luck, Tech Support

It ain't natural.........................................

I've often heard a woman can not be too thin....they were wrong. See pic above. Ladies, quit starving yourselves. I was looking at a popular magazine that is devoted to celebrity worship, I was standing in the checkout line at Wally world( translation-Walmart in the south), when I noticed all the female celebs looked like Skeletor in the face, and holocaust survivors in body- which makes their breast surgeries look really weird.

I guess if this trend keeps going we won’t ever again have female movie stars like Katherine Hepburn. Kate could act, and her roles changed as she aged. On Golden Pond just wouldn’t work with these plastic surgery addicted, anorexic actresses. Ruby Dee is another actress that let nature take its course, we movie lovers are fortunate she did.

The male stars of Hollywood seem to have a choice. Robert Redford and Clint Eastwood are prime examples of leading men that have more wrinkles than a basset hound, yet it doesn’t affect their career. So let me ask this questions- Do women, whether in the movie business or not, have surgeries and starve themselves, do they do it for men? I’d like a little insight on this, and I don’t mean some silly study- just a woman’s opinion. Also, men, if you have some thoughts on this issue- sound off. Have a great weekend.
